Camping

There will be surprises. As many surprises as you are prepared to see and experience. The camp is set on a small boggy lake in a Boreal forest. There is lots learn about water, wildlife, and the natural environment. There are opportunities to explore the lake from a canoe or take a challenging hike around the perimeter.

Surprise(Sang) Lake is a shallow lake that is home to many forms of aquatic life which in turn attract a large number of birds and migratory waterfowl. It is a protected sanctuary for waterfowl and that means no motorized watercraft on the lake. You’ll understand the vital role of water in life itself.

The calls of loons, grebes and kingfishers on a quiet evening and will make you stop and listen to new, yet very old music, the silence and wonder of nature.

It’s camping the old way and being filled in a new way.

The camp was built by faith and the appreciation of our natural world and our place in it. The SLS respects and honors the vision and dedication to those before us who experienced the value of being in nature in a simple setting.

To come for a stay at camp whether in a tent, a cabin or an RV, come prepared like you would to go camping and you won’t be disappointed.  Bring your camera and go hunting.  It’s open season on the beauty of nature, there is no limit, and you don’t need a license.  Just enjoy!
